Temporary pavilion with opportunity and tools to express ideas to the politicians regarding city development and urban issues

The idea is to build temporary pavilion (meeting place) in the public space in Bergen where people would be provoked to discuss on Bergen city matters with people around them. Also would be provided with opportunity and tools to express their ideas to the politicians regarding city development and urban issues. It is defined by law that the citizens have the right to give their opinion in city planning matters. The citizens can send their own ideas to the politicians. Bergen city municipality has published politicians emails here https://www.bergen.kommune.no/politikk/slik-kan-du-pavirke/7104.While not many people knows that they can influence city planning I want to bring this opportunity to the public. With this project I want to create opportunities for all members of a population to make meaningful contributions to decision-making. I am concerned with ensuring that citizens has an opportunity to participate or otherwise be involved in decision making on matters that affect their lives.Involving people in the planning of spaces around them generates a feeling of responsibility of the outcome. People feel part of the environment and, at the same time, responsible for their quality. With this project I want to contribute in helping to create more democratic public spaces that are consistent with the needs and demands of the population. The inhabitants have particular experience or knowledge that cannot be replicated by outside ‘experts’, leading to better more locally-specific place, and that involvement in the production of the built environment creates beneficial ‘ownership’ of outcomes. The ‘right to the city’ is not just about the right to be in the city, but the right to continue to shape the city to ‘appropriate’ its spaces – and to physically ‘enjoy’ it, both through one’s everyday life, and through political activity.I want to defuse an echo chamber - an environment in which a person encounters only beliefs or opinions that coincide with their own, so that their existing views are reinforced and alternative ideas are not considered. For me it is important to have a bottom-up approach and to allow people to become active participants in the development of the city, rather than being passive users.I would like it to become an active place like The Speakers Corner in Hyde Park, London where many people get together to discuss their point of view about difficult matters. The location of the pavilion will be reclaimed leftover underused place for the local community use which I want to become a platform for discussion.
